Fostering the Spirit of Sharing and Community During the Holy Month
In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan 2026, the staff of the Medical Library, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MedicUMS), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), organised a Lambuk Porridge Distribution Programme as part of their community engagement and welfare initiative. The programme was carried out to share the blessings of Ramadan and strengthen the spirit of togetherness among students and staff of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The preparation and distribution of bubur lambuk, a traditional Malaysian porridge commonly associated with Ramadan, served as a meaningful activity that reflected the values of compassion, generosity, and unity. Medical Library staff worked collaboratively in planning and coordinating the programme to ensure its successful implementation.
The freshly prepared bubur lambuk was distributed to students, academic staff, and administrative personnel within the faculty. The initiative was warmly received by recipients, who appreciated the thoughtful gesture and the opportunity to experience the communal spirit that characterises the holy month.
Beyond providing a meal for breaking fast, the programme aimed to foster stronger relationships among members of the faculty community. It also highlighted the importance of caring for one another and promoting a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and social responsibility.
The Lambuk Porridge Distribution Programme reflects the Medical Library’s commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the faculty community while preserving cultural and religious traditions. Such programmes provide a valuable platform for strengthening bonds among students and staff, creating a more inclusive and harmonious campus environment.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences extends its sincere appreciation to all Medical Library staff and volunteers whose dedication and teamwork made the programme a success. It is hoped that initiatives such as this will continue to inspire the spirit of giving and community engagement among members of the university community.
